Thomass Edison

Technically, Anything Is Possible

A button pushing, knob turning, slider sliding tech nerd from day one, ThomAss is thrilled to call Plan9 Burlesque his home base.  He's handled light design, sound design and technical show aspects for almost every Plan9's cabaret from the very first show until today.  It was Plan9's company creativity that inspired him to do more and essentially, wear less, much less.  This B-Boy and Breakdancer merged his loves of light, sound, music, dance and burlesque into what one can only be known as Break-lesque.  Often pulling double-duty for Plan9, this means he'll light up your stage in multiple ways.

Plan 9 Questionnaire

  • How did you get started in Burlesque and Plan 9?

I got started in burlesque in 2011 when I was hired as a technical understudy for a show called Boobs & Goombas – A Super Mario Bro. Burlesque.  From this very first show I was hooked and over the next few years I grew most of the friendships and relationships with those who all eventually would become my fellow Plan 9 Ass-tronauts.

  • Is there a story behind your burlesque name?

It was very natural for me to choose my burlesque name because I am the Plan 9 Tech Guy.  Plus, it only seems right that a light & sound designer pay some homage to the original inventor of the phonograph and light bulb.

  • What is your favorite number? (try and pick one you’ve done at plan 9)

Disco Stu!!

  • If you could be any fictional character who would you be and why?

Rufus (Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure), because, what’s cooler than a time traveling special agent who’s helping youth of the present preserve history so the future can be “Most Excellent.”

  • What’s one thing people may be surprised to learn about you?

That I am also a burlesque dancer, not just the guy running light and sound.

  • Where else can people find your work?

I can be found on a regular basis with, Original Tease, The No-Tell Cabaret, The Wild Side – A Badass Pole Show and Viva La Pole Show.

Lightning Round

  • Trek vs Wars

StarWars – A New Hope (there’s nothing like the original)

  •  DC vs Marvel

DC - Batman

  • Harry Potter vs Twilight

N/A – Tech Nerd, Fantasy ain’t my thing.

  • Doctor Who vs James Bond

Bond – Sean Connery

  •  What is your dream nerdlesque number?

This is very tough to answer, the number I would like most to do has been conceptualized in my head over the last two years.  I just need to do it. The number I’d like most to see someone else do… Um, this could take a while.
